_*ACC Orders Manager's arrest and closes St. Mary's Supermarket for non-payment of GST since it was established*_
For what is believed to be the non-payment of Goods and Services tax (GST) for several years since its establishment, the Anti-Corruption Commission has raided St. Mary's Super Market, confiscated its business books and Closed it as a crime scene with no access to staff or public late evening on Friday 2nd October, 2018. The ACC has closed the super market while it analyses over 200 books to establish exactly how much St. Mary's owes the People in tax.
Our sources within the ACC confirms that the Commissioner has ordered the arrest of Assad Shallop the Manager who happens to be out of the Country. His brother was arrested but released as he was not the Manager of the Super Market.
A similar raid was done on Fawaz Building materials, with its books seized, two days ago and it was revealed that they are in deficit of tax payments that could amount to several millions of Leones.
In what is believed to be an operation to enforce compliance of tax laws, the ACC is likely to close down several businesses in the following weeks who are not paying taxes.
